Cypress Island is an objective for 2010. There were enough links to websites that mentioned dangerous rip currents that we thought it best to get a little more skill before attempting a paddle around. The reason that this page is here is a very effusive kayaker I met in Port Townsend who said this was the absolute best camping opportunity that was accessible without having to take a ferry into the San Juans. This link will show you that and provide a few more comments about the currents.
Unfortunately, the campground on Strawberry Island (small island west of Cypress) has been closed for an indeterminate length of time.
